No nukes for Sudbury: MPP (May 2009)

Despite what Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci says, there is no plan to bury nuclear waste in the Sudbury area, a spokesman for the Nuclear Waste Management Organization said Thursday.
“There is not and has never been a proposal to bury nuclear waste in Sudbury,” Mike Krizanc said. “We’re simply visiting the major regions of the nuclear provinces to ask for the public to comment on our process for finding a site.”
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is holding a public meeting in Greater Sudbury on Monday. The agency is touring provinces that use nuclear power, including Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan.
Officials are promoting a plan to find a suitable location for a deep geological repository for used nuclear fuel.
